What are the different levels?

Plain language descriptions and the "CEF" system

To keep things simple, we use transparent level names for our courses, but have linked these roughly, for reference, to what is known as the "CEF" or Common European Framework.  (Google CEF for more info if you have time to read up on it!).  The CEF runs - rather confusingly in our opinion! - from A1 (lowest level) up to C2.

Beginner/post beginner - A1/A2

Pre-intermediate - B1

Intermediate - B2

Upper-intermediate - C1

Advanced - C2

We have devised an intriguing test you can do online for a rough guide to your current level (or, having taken a course with us, to check your progress.
